Harley David Fountain (affectionately known as "Pastor Dave") went home to his heavenly father on Monday, September 9, 2024. He was born in Pickford, Michigan October 22, 1938 to Harvey & Grace (Huyck) Fountain. Dave served honorably in the Army; attended Central Michigan University, and went on to graduate from Olivet Nazarene University with a BS Degree in Religion in 1969. He pastored churches in Indiana and Michigan, before moving to Jacksonville in 1991, where he and his wife were co-founders of Gleaners Dispatch, Inc., a compassionate fresh food ministry for the last 25+ years.
Pastor Dave is survived by his loving wife & friend of 60 years, Terry Lyn Fountain; daughter, Tracy J. Hicks; son, Michael D. Fountain; grandchildren: (aka "those who could do no wrong") Christopher Hicks, Heather Hicks, Heidi Hicks, Julie Hicks; great-grandchildren; (aka "those who could do even less wrong") Adrianna, Lucas, Gabriella, Kameran, Jayden, Johnathan, Kaitlyn, Harmony, and Mason; 21 nieces & nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, siblings; Harvetta, Jimmy, Roger, and Robert; son, David L. Fountain; and grandson, Jacob Fountain.
Pastor Dave never met a stranger. He was a fun loving, happy-to-be-alive man who always had a word of encouragement (& a "dumb joke") for anyone he met. He always saw potential in people in his sphere of influence & his ambassadorship for his Lord and saviour always drew those who needed spiritual encouragement. He would say to all those who knew him that he wanted nothing more than for you to know, love, and serve Jesus.
The family is hosting a Celebration of his Life service at 11 am on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at ONE HEART CHURCH, 4151 Old Middleburg Road, Jacksonville FL 32210. In honor and respect of his memory Gleaners Dispatch, Inc. distribution for that day only, will be suspended at that location. The family request that in lieu of flowers please make donations to Gleaners Dispatch, Inc. 8207 103rd Street, Jacksonville, FL 32210 to further the food ministry.
