It encourages the donation of food and grocery products to nonprofit organizations for distribution to needy individuals. The law protects donors from liability when donating to a nonprofit organization.<\/p>\nTherefore, every day of the week Gleaners Dispatch Volunteers go to local wholesalers, retailers, and restaurants and \u201cglean\u201d (gather) EXCESS<\/b> fresh food<\/b> that would otherwise be disposed of, and redistribute the fresh food to families in need, trying to have it on someone\u2019s table within 24-48 hours \u2013 free of charge.<\/p>\nGleaners Dispatch, Inc. was incorporated in March of 1999, and is a public nonprofit charity under the IRC 501(c)\n(3) tax-deductible status.
