L.E.A.D. Scholarship Opportunity

In addition to providing for to families and individuals of all ages, Gleaners is always looking for ways to help improve education in our youth. We pray that by passing along valuable scholarship opportunity information we will help to give kids a additional chance to earn some of the available scholarship funds.

The Jacksonville Chapter of Jack & Jill is seeking high school student applicants from Northeast Florida (in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau or St Johns counties) interested in applying for the L.E.A.D. (Leaders Emerging As Dreamers) Scholarship. This is for those who seek to major more broadly in a STEM-related field of study. Scholarships ranging between $1,000-$1,500 will be awarded to students who meet the criteria and aim to positively impact the community.

Interested students may submit scholarship applications to the Jacksonville Chapter from January 18, 2016 to March 25, 2016. Additional information on the L.E.A.D. Scholarship (STEM) may be obtained by contacting the scholarship committee of the Jacksonville Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc. (c/o Mrs. Kimberly Brooks-Hall, chairperson @ jaxjnjscholarship@gmail.com).

Gleaners Partners with Celebrate Recovery (CR)

The Celebrate Recovery West Jacksonville group is one of over 15,000 registered and authorized CR Groups in North America. Gleaners Dispatch, Inc. has partnered in leadership, sponsorship and participation with Christ Church Jacksonville (Anglican), the authorized and registered CR location. The group meets every Friday night from 6 – 9:30 pm at 9917 103rd Street (west of I-295 toward Cecil Commerce Center just before Connie Jean Road).

  • Dinner from 6-7
  • Large group 7-8
  • small gender-based groups from 8-9
  • and fellowship over desserts from 9-9:30 pm

By working the Christ-centered steps and applying their biblical principles found in the Beatitudes, we begin to grow spiritually. We become free from our addictive, compulsive, and dysfunctional behaviors. This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy, and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with God and others. As we progress through the principles and the steps, we discover our personal, loving and forgiving Higher Power – Jesus Christ.

Celebrate Recovery (we refer to it as “CR”) small gender based groups will provide a safe place to confidentially share your thoughts and feelings with no interruptions or talking by others while you share. Everyone in the group is there to support you – not fix you. Everything shared stays in the group.
